Tranquil Garden Wedding

Updated: Sep 23

September is our favourite month to photograph weddings. Of course, we're a bit biased since it's also our wedding month, but usually, the temperature is just right, the sun feels kinder and there's a coziness to inspire summer romances to turn into warm, autumn snuggles.

Kirsten & Nick are easily one of the warmest couples we've ever had the privilege to photograph. They were kind, open to creativity and most importantly, so in love. Their character reflected on their wedding party, which consisted of fun and welcoming individuals who were just as warm as the couple.

Their ceremony took place in Club Roma's garden, a tranquil space that felt secret and safe. An overcast hung above the garden that day and when nature provides photographers with incredible lighting conditions, we couldn't help but celebrate it.

One of our favourite things to suggest to newlyweds immediately after they exit the ceremony is to run away and disappear to a designated spot for about 15-20 minutes. This is so newlyweds get the chance to soak in their momentous milestone in the quietness of each other's presence.

(If you're reading this and you're about to get married, please don't forget to tell your photographer where you're running away to...We knew where Kirsten & Nick were, but just for future reference. We do have a story about this. Feel free to ask.)

Tranquility continued in the reception space, as colour psychology suggests that sage green depicts exactly this feeling. The touch of green pays homage not just to the beauty of the surrounding nature, but also to the friendly and approachable personalities of Kirsten and Nick.

The garden pavilion also offered us the most flexibility to be creative. Walls would inevitably restrict us to a specific space but the pavilion's glass walls allowed us to capture intimate moments from the outside, such as this sweet one:

We had the easiest time capturing Kirsten and Nick's story and we are incredibly grateful to be a part of it.
